Cross-border guide

Preparing a UK-US commercial debt enquiry

Cross-border matters require a clear picture of the parties, documents, debtor location and contractual position before any service can be confirmed.

Where each party is based

Provide the legal and trading names, registered or business addresses, and the debtor's state or country.

What the agreement says

Include the contract, order, applicable terms and any clauses dealing with governing law, jurisdiction or dispute resolution.

Which currency and balance apply

State the invoice currency, original amount, payments, credits and exact outstanding balance without converting figures unless required.

How the transaction was performed

Keep evidence of supply, delivery, acceptance or completion, together with relevant account and debtor correspondence.

Whether the balance is disputed

Describe any dispute, counterclaim, insolvency concern or previous proceeding so the matter can be assessed accurately.

Rules and available options vary between the UK and individual US states. This page is general information, not legal advice. Service availability is confirmed only after an initial review.
